HOI AN ADULT SHELTER
The Hoi An Adult Shelter is home to over 100 people suffering from old age, dementia, homelessness, disability, or a mixture of these.
As a government-owned centre, it is very basic and its resources and staff are limited. Quality of life for the residents is very much dependant upon their physical and intellectual ability, and many of the residents spend the rest of their lives lying on their beds.
Kianh Foundation has facilitated an agreement between the Hoi An Adult Shelter administration and the German Government's Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) volunteer programme to place two volunteers at the Shelter every year to work specifically with the young people with disability. The Kianh Foundation oversees and supports the programme between the two sides.
